GEORGETOWN — November 2, 2026. The Georgetown Divide Fire Safe Council advertises a free Home Hardening and Defensible Space assessment program for local property owners.
What the volunteer visit entails
The council says a trained volunteer can arrange a walk-around assessment of a property and the outside of the home, identifying vulnerable vegetation, combustible materials, vents and other possible ember exposure points.
How to apply
Property owners can complete the council’s assessment form and wait to be contacted to schedule a visit. The group provides DivideFireSafeAssessment@gmail.com for inquiries.
What an assessment does not guarantee
The service helps households identify risk-reduction steps but is not a certification that a building is fireproof or compliant with every code. Residents should also learn evacuation routes, official warning systems and any local vegetation rules.
